Statement
I am interested in the moment a familiar place turns into pure structure: a hillside becoming a wedge of ochre, a row of houses becoming a rhythm of windows. I paint to slow that moment down.
Each series begins with observation and ends somewhere close to abstraction. Colour does most of the work. I build surfaces in thin layers, scrape back, and leave the history of each decision visible.
The photographs follow the same instinct from the other direction: plants and found forms looked at so closely that they become architecture.
